The Schocken exhibition at the Jewish Museum Berlin (JMB) is on display until October 12, 2025. A visit is highly recommended. The JMB invited American author Joshua Cohen to explore the cultural legacy of publisher and department store entrepreneur Salman Schocken. Using selected exhibits from the JMB collection, Cohen comments on the history of Schocken Publishing in the exhibition and takes it as a starting point for a contemporary perspective on culture and capital, on department stores and museums, and, last but not least, on questions of (re)appropriation and belonging.
