With interesting stories, information and historical recordings, the audio tour “Jewish Life and Work in Stralsund” takes visitors and locals to eleven places in Stralsund’s Jewish history. Professor Michael Klotz created the tour with students at Stralsund University of Applied Sciences as part of the BMWi-funded “Mittelstand 4.0-Kompetenzzentrum Rostock” for the izi.TRAVEL app, which is available free of charge in the App and Play stores. The city tour starts at the Stralsund Mint and leads to the memorial plaque of the former synagogue, the Tietz department store and Wertheim department store, among others. One stop is also the house of the Blach family in Mönchstraße, whose almost forgotten history has been researched by Friderike Fechner, who, like Michael Klotz, is also a member of the Förderverein Historische Warenhäuser Wertheim und Tietz in Stralsund e. V.. In Stralsund’s old town, the tour ends at the memorial stele in the Johanniskloster. Station No. 11 describes Stralsund’s Jewish cemetery, located somewhat outside on Greifswalder Chaussee.
