Exceptional prices at Wertheim from May 2-4
In the Stralsundische Zeitung of May 1, 1894, there is an advertisement by A. Wertheim on the third page of the 1st supplement. It announces a three-day price campaign with exceptional prices as a result of “particularly extensive agreements with factories”. Purchasing in large quantities directly from producers was one of the success factors of the Wertheim and Tietz department store families. The expansion of the Wertheim department stores under Georg Wertheim is clearly visible in the top right-hand corner of the advertisement. On April 1, 1883, the first branch was opened in Rostock at Kröpeliner Straße 56, and on October 1, 1985 in Berlin at Rosenthaler Straße 27. The “Oranienstraße” location followed on March 31, 1890 and the branch in Leipziger Straße on October 10, 1892.
